Phonics Sound Chart & More- Free Printable for Small Groups

phonics sound chart printable for phonics reference. Use for small group intervention, writing center and more

I love phonics and rely heavily on my printable sound charts for teaching phonetic patterns and phonemes. Traveling from room to room as an intervention specialist, it can be difficult to display visuals in an effective and organized way. On top of that, I've worked in some tiny rooms and spaces! That meant,  I didn't always have the space to put up bulletin boards or much room for my precious posters. If you have a small space or if you work with your students in small groups, I think you'll like this classroom tool along with the free phonics sound chart printables. The freebie includes phonetic vowel charts with examples, charts of phonemes for student reference, and more!

This display easel has become one of my FAVORITE classroom resources because there are so many great ways to use it!

Check it out in action!

Here are a few of my favorite ways to use this display easel:

Small Group Writing

My favorite use of this chart of phonemes is when I work with small groups during writing! I love this because I can easily differentiate what I am helping students with. For example, I have some students who still need to refer to their letters for help with formation. I have other students who are already using vowel teams in their writing! When a student asks me how to spell something or what a letter looks like, I can flip to that page and help them stretch out the word! I've included several pages for your students to refer to for free!

A Mini Word Wall

This year is the first year in a while that I have had enough space to put up a word wall! If you are short on space or have students who have difficulty seeing a word wall, this one-page resource will be great for you! I have a blank copy included below and I have an editable version here!

Guided Reading and Reading Groups

I keep my decoding strategy posters in this flip easel so I can easily flip to reading strategies. I like to use these posters when I teach a new reading strategy. It's also a great visual when you want to get students to use their reading strategies!

Writing Center

Another way to use this easel is to display phonics charts, sight words, vocabulary words, and more in your writing center. You can add anything students may need to refer to as they write. With this simple easel, they can easily flip around to find what they need.

Introducing New Concepts

Do you have a ton of page-sized posters that you have printed from TpT? Posters that you have created? Me too! When I introduce a new concept, I like to put it in the pocket of this easel so I can refer to it and display it!
